Minutes of the Governance and Priorities Committee Meeting held in the Shaw Auditorium, Vancouver Island Conference Centre, 80 Commercial Street, Nanaimo, BC, on Monday, 2024-NOV-25, at 1:01 p.m.

To be introduced by Bill Sims, General Manager, Engineering and Public Works. 


Purpose:  The City is undertaking a parking review and bylaw update as identified in multiple Integrated Action Plan tasks (C2.1.2, C2.1.3, C2.1.5, C2.2.4, C2.2.6). This report serves as an introduction to the Phase 1 Conditions Report.  


Presentation:

  1. Dan Casey, Transportation Consultant, and Caroline Dunaux, Transportation Planner, Urban Systems.

Purpose:  To present potential amendments to the “Off-Street Parking Regulations Bylaw 2018 No. 7266” and minimum parking requirements in Downtown Nanaimo.

Recommendation:  That the Governance and Priorities Committee recommend that Council direct Staff to amend the “Off-Street Parking Regulations Bylaw 2018 No. 7266” to eliminate all minimum parking requirements for all uses within the Downtown Urban Centre.
